I've been debating about the TD to add to my 7070 collection. I recently decided that I want a chop marked version in a higher circulated grade, XF or so to crack out its slab and free it back into the wild. I think that is a perfect Trade dollar because chop marks indicate that the coin went out and did its intended job at least for some time. Then I think about the odds of that coin traveling thousands of miles twice across the Pacific Ocean, returning back to America and not ending up melted. That's an amazing history story in hand, in my opinion. I know not all agree but that's part of my fun in collecting.

Quote: Trade Dollars , just can't get into them ? If it wasn't required for the 7070, I probably wouldn't either. I have a slabbed one coming to me in the mail right now.

Quote: JBuck - Yours is a better grade than mine but it's funny how yours and mine both have almost the same wear on the bottom of the obverse rim... That is interesting. Perhaps an expert can comment. Quote: Just got mine in the mail today and it's for my 7070. Love ebay bucks ! Quote: Here is my 7070 Trade dollar with a couple different camera settings. Very nice!

I would like to have a proof Trade dollar for my collection. I have one I purchased off ebay raw from a reputable dealer. It is harshly cleaned but it is a 1875 s/cc veriety AU55 cleaned by ANACS.

Quote:I have one I purchased off ebay raw So, I presume you had it graded by ANACS? Buying them raw is a bit of a gamble, but looks like it paid off for you. Nice pick up.

Quote: The trade $ is definitely a pain to acquire a nice example for the type set. Nice design, but I think its scarcity without problems deters people from purchasing...in addition to it being highly counterfeited. What's written on those slabs?

Steelers 72, I would be proud to have either in my 7070. Jealous. I am saving $$$ for nice Seated Liberty dollars. USSID18 - post pics when in hand!
