Thanks jbuck....
The plan for this thread is to show at least one set of the four kings/queen that ruled British India, but maybe more... After this 1862 series I will be presenting Edward VII 1903/1910 and George V 1911/1936....Along with some Princely state coins.... Then would like to present my coins of British Colonial Africa...etc
As I move through each set please post any coins you feel will add to the series...Paul

@ Director......Very interesting link thanks for sharing.... Ive never really dabbled in restrikes or proof coins, too expensive for me..... Thats a really nice coin!...So using the link its an obverse type I(a) with the trefoils almost touching the pearls... Whats the grade? And do you know the mintage number? I cant seem to find any figures? Also as you probably know its the narrow date variety. Did they restrike the wide date variety aswell? Detail to show others the difference...Paul

The grade is PCGS PR64 RB.
Yes, exactly! This is obverse type I (a).
No idea on the mintage number of original proofs or for that matter restrike proofs. I don't believe they kept a count.
I'll have to do a bit more researching on the wide and narrow date and get back to you.

Had a bit of a look around Director and cant find any wide date 1938 proofs...But maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
I zoomed up the reverse of your coin...WOW amazing detail, a super looking coin!
Something I didnt realise until I looked at your coin in more detail is the number 8 on the narrow date series looks almost like an S as the intersections dont meet...
Thanks again for sharing...Paul
