I have absolutely no information on why the fake exists but it does. Remember 50 cents was a lot of money in 1876.
Henning thought it was worth minting his nickels in the middle of the 20th century and they were only worth a nickel.
The fakes may also be a newer ticket that was printed for collectors? I have no idea.

1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition
Souvenir Ticket - Portland Day

September 30 1905
serial no. 43621

Post-Your-Exposition-And-World's-Fair-Tickets

Post-Your-Exposition-And-World's-Fair-Tickets

Nice front, back shows evidence of being adhered to a scrapbook page. The condition of the front is very nice and makes the reverse very forgivable since they are all blank anyway. This one took a couple years to find me. A must have as you can see, to fill in that ticket void for my Lewis and Clark Exposition situation.

Actually, this ticket pretty much ends my collecting in this area.
Now, I won't pass up a great deal if it smacks me in the face, but as far as searching, I think I have covered the bases.

1935 San Diego Exposition
La Fortuna 400 Chips Coupon

Post-Your-Exposition-And-World's-Fair-Tickets

I don't think it is a coincidence that the denomination is 400 chips at the Exposition held in San Diego in 1935. It celebrated the 400th anniversary of Coronado's discovery of the Pacific Southwest.
Very similar to the Gold Gulch Nugget depression script or obsolete currency, as they are sometimes categorized, this was probably used in the same attraction built to portray a mining town in the gold rush days of 1849. Probably a cantina existed by the name of La Fortuna. Information is somewhat scarce on what all went on in the Village of Gold Gulch at America's Exposition in San Diego.
I have found all three Gold Gulch Nugget notes. They are One, Five and Ten Nugget denominations.
See here: http://goccf.com/t/330506&whichpage=9#3096118
I have only found a denomination of 400 chips for this particular type note and don't think there are others. The high serial number seems to be deceiving as all those I have seen are near the number on mine in the 24000 area. This one is the best condition example I have found by far.
There is another set of four similar blue back notes that I have not yet collected.
They are Jardin de Plaisir Souvenirs in denominations of One, Five, Ten and Twenty Souvenirs.
I do believe that Jardin de Plaisir translates to Garden of Enjoyment.

I do not own this example (I photo-shopped that random serial number for use here)

Another "Black and White" inked 1876 Phila Ticket shows up on ebay ( Seller ags60 ) along with a train ticket.
I posted one like it earlier here on 3-12-2019.

These all share the same serial number 89048 but my ticket is green ink on front and black ink on back.

Well, I should have mentioned that it is not mine. I have only the green fake or perhaps it is possibly a sample. It is still a mystery to me. I am waiting on one that is all black ink at a bargain price.
I am pretty sure that the three I have identified are all quite scarce but value is subjective.

Can we bring this thread back to life? I love seeing all different types of exposition and world's fair tickets everyone has! I have a lot of new and scarce 1893 Columbian Exposition tickets but wasn't able to attach most of them because the files are too large. Once I can get on my laptop, I can resize and share them!

Here are a few more scarce tickets from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. If anyone else is into collecting tickets to different World's Fairs or Expositions, I would love to see photo's or your tickets too!

This Cold Storage Fire Relief Fund ticket is very scarce! I've only seen 1 photo of another one of these tickets and it was on a historical Chicago website.
