1965 Mangled Quarter Appears To Be Of Another Metal.

TBR Valued Member United States 119 Posts	Posted 11/02/2018 11:37 am I know there is a lot of damage on this coin and it would be of no interest to most collectors, but it appears to me to be made of a different metal. Ignoring the damage, it looks more shiny and smooth and although of a slightly smaller diameter and thickness seems to weigh about the same as a comparison 1981 quarter (both around 5.6 grams). My apologies for posting such a damaged coin, but I am trying to figure out why the metal looks so different. I'd appreciate any thoughts. 1965 coin under 1981 1965 on top of 1981 1965 on right.
