I was traveling in the U.S. recently. As I tend to do on my U.S. travels, I go to the nearest bank to get some rolls. I asked if they had any dollar rolls, which they did not (usually the case). However, the other teller happened to overhear and mentioned that someone came in with a bag of dollars. I told him I was interested and he proceeded to produce a bag with 91 Eisenhower dollars! I did an inventory and there were 13 71's, 11 72's, 8 74's, 27 76's, 12 77's, 20 78's. Most were D's, but there was 1 or 2 examples of P's from most years as well. All of them were in circulated condition. Ike dollars are not something I have collected, but figured that it was a sign to add some to my collection. Given that I was traveling, I didn't want them to weigh down my bag too much. I decided to hang onto the nicest example of each year and variety and a handful of the bicentennial ones to give to the kids/neice/nephews. The others I spent/took back to a different bank.

Nice score! I'm sure the kids will enjoy receiving them too!
I like to use $1 coins and $2 bills as tips in restaurants too.

Fantastic!

A nice little starter set. You know you will get the rest. Eventually. Someday. Possibly. Hopefully. I do encourage it.

Check to see if any of those Philly bicentennials are Type 1 (thick lettering on reverse).
