Does anybody give their proofs a quick acetone bath when removing from the OGP. I have three 1960 proof sets where the coins appear to be affected by the packaging and wanted to know if acetone would help.

Affected in what way? A pic would be nice.

Coins are a little hazy. Just wondering if I should be concerned that the surface of the proofs might need to be dealt with given fifty plus years of sitting in the cellophane material.

Pics would be nice, but acetone can't hurt, just be careful when handling.

Coinfrog,
I would if I could figure out how to upload. My computer seems to be in a perpetual state of 'loading' but without actually getting the job done.
I'll try my best and we'll see what happens.

Acetone will remove any grease or oil on the coins but as a general rule it won't touch hazing at all. Contrary to popular opinion I have had good luck removing haze on coppernickel proofs with diluted ez-est (full MS or proofs only, doesn't work well on circulated coins), but even diluted ez-est will mess up copper. The proof silver should come out fine.
