Wow. I didn't think the poll would get this much attention! Just wanted to know others opinions. Anyways, coins can Be Hard to carry around, but it would ultimately be easier to store if we adapted to using a coin tube type case with us, clip on or have a wrist band with closing pockets. I don't know. I just think we could adapt to using coins. It seems like a smarter move for the mint-and for vending machine use. Thanks for all the replies!

I remember my grandfather carrying around a small coin "purse" that snapped shut. It had soft sides so it could expand and it kept the coins from jingling in the pocket. If it worked then, why can't it work now? I spend a mixture of cash and cards but I prefer cash, especially for purchases under $10. I love spending larger coins and I like the way they feel in my pocket. Maybe it's just me. Maybe it's just the coin collector in me that wants to hold on to the feeling of spending coins, and I don't want that to go away.

If it worked then, why can't it work now? Because society goes forward not backwards. Horses once worked instead of cars, letters over emails, telegrams over cell phones, wagons over planes ect. While hipsters may use their unique style to embrace coin purses or a coin armband, it's not going to happen. The over overwhelming majority of people don't want to look like an old school arcade attendant with a coin dispenser

Wow! 1K reads. Glad people are interested in this topic. Anyways I think the "little coin purse" is just as useful now. Of course we would have to make a newer version to adapt to our society now. Also my vote goes to small dollars. Definitely not large dollars. They are too big and will probably cost a lot to make. And Fistfullofdirt, yes, exactly like the phone booth. :) Also is the mint makes more coins, and mess up more, then it can make us more money! (If you sell some of your coins. And if you don't then you have more for the collection) Appreciate all the feedback, and for keeping this thread alive! Happy Hunting! -CoinHunter27

i don't have a particular preference as to dollar bill or dollar coin. they each have their pros & cons. if the bills are more expensive to produce than they're worth, then I am all for the dollar coin, but only if it's silver. I don't care for the dollar coins out there at present. none of it is silver. I'm not very attracted to the newer modern issues. give me a Morgan dollar or silver eagle & I'm a happy guy.

Sorry to say, but silver coinage for circulation is never ever going to happen again.

Quote: I wouldn't say never ever... We do not have enough silver in the world to supply what is needed for silver coinage. Which means that other material coins (and paper money) will still be needed to fill the demand. Gresham's law will ensure that any silver coins issued for circulation will be hoarded. I like spending half dollars and golden dollar coins. They last decades longer than the bills do, but they take up a lot of space quickly and most people don't know what to do with them. Two dollar bills are fun to use also, but people always get confused when counting them.

By the time we can mine the universe like its just another everyday activity the whole only PMs are money position will be way more fringe than it is today.
