@coin2020, I've taken the liberty of enlarging and enhancing the pic that you posted on CoinWorld.com. In contradistinction to @DJ221, it looks to me like there is a scratch on this coin (not an error). I'd be interested to hear what others think so that we can give you a consensus opinion. Also, it is a small thing, but I'll ask the mods to move this thread to the correct spot on CCF so that more eyes will get on it.

There's not supposed to be a paddle in between the second and third ship

This is PMD (post minting damage) not an actual error or variety.

@coin2020, you are correct that there is not supposed to be a paddle between the second and third ship. @dowelljerry221, you are correct that an extra paddle isn't an error. However, I think that you are both missing the point that this coin actually doesn't have an extra paddle. In fact, there are no paddles at all on these coins as these ships are using sails for propulsion. That short linear region between the second and third ships is a scratch on the coin that occurred after the coin was struck. Any resemblance to a paddle is strictly Pareidolia. There is no error on this coin.

You see dead people. It's post-mint damage. An extra "paddle" (or whatever) would be raised off the face of the coin like all the other details (called "devices") due to the nature of the minting process. What you are seeing is scratched into the face, which means it was damaged after leaving the mint. Spend it and keep looking!
