I just found this nickel and was wondering if it is an error or damage. Thanks for the input.

Thats is a pretty massive lamination, you lost half the obverse
Laminations do not usually have much of a premium but that one would certainly be desirable to someone who wanted it as a severe example of that type of error.
Rest in Peace

Laminations are common on War Nickels, but this one is exceptional. Nice find.

There to much obverse ware to say lamination error for me it a 35% silver and it looks like it was jammed or pressed in to somthing
Or maybe a love token or a started hobo nickel?

What would wear have to do with it being a lamination or not The left side of the coin has split off, not worn off. The striated, streaked pattern with peeling layers of metal is a key indicator of lamination.

Definitely a lamination error. I would also categorize this coin as a split planchet error with about 45% of the obverse effected by the split.

Another thing that makes this coin interesting is that you can use the same coin to explain a lamination error and at the same time, you can visually see what a split planchet looks like.
