Looking For Tools To Get To Help With My CRH

jflournoy New Member United States 38 Posts	Posted 12/13/2018 4:40 pm Just started CRH and coin collecting. I've gone through 2 nickel boxes so far and a water jug of change that was 80% full. It took me hours to sort it out and then its strained my eyes checking all of the dates while squinting. So I'm thinking about getting some sort of a light and magnifying glass. Are there any specific ones you all recommend or any other tools I should consider ordering off of Amazon? Report this Post to the Staff

Lionel90 Valued Member United States 392 Posts	Posted 12/13/2018 6:10 pm You'll get recommendations for some great stuff from the serious collectors. Loupes and microscopes. But, I'm not one of them. My favorite for checking dates is a plastic handheld magnifying glass to check the dates and mint marks. Mine has a small extra magnifing disk near the handle from Walmart. John1 Moderator United States 56855 Posts	Posted 12/13/2018 6:32 pm Are you looking for errors and varieties? If so you will need a jewlers loupe of 10x-12x doublet or triplet. A good light source,I use a clamp on drafting table light with a 30 watt CFL (I use a 14x doublet). Some coin tubes and some 2x2 holders. If you plan on looking for errors/varieties you will need to do a lot of reading and research before hand. John1 Report this Post to the Staff
