My wife sent me to the bank last week to get some rolls of cents for my kids. She probably expected me to come home with 2-3 rolls.
Here is what really happened. The teller's (a familiar friendly face) eyes lit up when I said cent rolls. She said "How many?" I said 2-3.
Crestfallen.
Why?
I had this lot of $120 that a customer brought in that I am trying to get rid of. Her grandmother collected them for years.
I said - "you're lying to me."
Nope.
I'll take em all.
She was dancing. I carried about 75 pounds of cents out to my car. My wife was "overjoyed" when I got home.
Now, the potential was here for a major score, anything was possible. After going through half of them I have the following to report.
Several rolls were put away prior to 1982. They contain all copper and many are bright red. Some rolls were put away in the mid 80's containing a nice mix of coppers and some red but ugly 80's cents. (all the issues that those cents have). Lastly, some rolls have 2017 or even 2018 cents in them. I am not a cent searcher usually, and all I am really looking for is a few obvious biggies. I am separating the coppers because I am stubbornly hoarding copper cents. I am enjoying myself, but hardly can justify the time I am spending.
Just thought I would share.

I was with you until this statement. I can't think of too many better ways to spend a little time...

Here is a picture of the remaining rolls. The red ones are the best.

Good Luck searching!!!!! I went in a bank one time and asked for cents and got about the same response. Some kid had rolled up over $400 in cents. I told her I would take them all. She was going to count them all out to make sure the total was correct. I told her not to worry about it. I did find some nice varieties in those. I think the best was a 1984 double ear DDO. Have fun.
