friends, I thought i'd share pictures of all the interesting coins I've found over the last year and a half. these are coins I've picked off the ground since my last posts in early july of last year. I hope I got the images right.

friends, I discovered abandoned treasure & salvaged it this past summer.

i was hired to paint the entire interior of one of my landlord's rental houses. I painted & did some repairs & a/c installs there in all of june & early july of this year. the last tenant was moving out as I got started. there was a little bit of stuff still left in one of the bedrooms, and because it was there I left that room for last, imagining someone would eventually show up for that small pile of stuff, but no one did. by the time I got to that last room, that stuff had sat there for weeks, apparently abandoned. so before it all got hauled to the curb I searched it and found a stash of old treasure, mostly from what looks to be communist-era countries in asia. a very fortunate and interesting find:

all very interesting, but again I kept none of it. the 50 groszy went into the sack for my buddy's granddaughter, the rest of it is going to someone else, a friend who's into old communist stuff. i'll spring it on him before the 25th...

i am gifted multiple times daily. I don't need to keep everything I find.

incidentally, tonight I scored $2.20 in well-scattered change.

friends, I found just eighty-five cents tonight, but I also picked this coin from the pavement behind a gas station, a ten cent coin from Singapore, 2016...




that'll go into the sack for my buddy's granddaughter.. I think that might be the first coin from Singapore that I have ever found..

tonight I scored $1.72



that's the first Kennedy half I've ever picked;

it's also the first half dollar I've found in an air-vac.. yes, I guess that was vacuumed out of someone's car..

friends, I thought i'd make a post that's a kind of a 'best-of', a list of the better nightly hauls I've had over the last year & a half, stories and pix

i narrowed this down from hundreds of pictures taken since last july

first, the air-vacs





ppl are always leaving coins at the air-vacs.. on the thing where the hose hangs, on the backside, on the front.. only this year did I start looking inside them.. those three pictures are from august, september & october of last year

now i'll talk about FRNs for a minute

i don't find many anymore.. the last dollar I found was over two months ago.. they're not as plentiful now as they used to be, but that could change..



picture from october last year, I actually found four dollar bills there that night, one was farther down the drive.. I think they fixed their leak and I likely won't be seeing dollar bills there anymore..

i counted how many dollar bills I had found in the year and a half that I was absent from ccf: 45! the best score wasn't the four dollars mentioned above.. the best score was on June 15 this year, 1:15am, I was doing my usual route thru the Publix parking lot when I saw it, hopped off the bike for pix





not too hard to miss, lol..

The Bus Stop

july 13, 1:37am, someone threw a handful of change onto the sidewalk from the bus stop, I stopped for a picture & to pick it all up



this is what I had when I got home that night



that was the night I picked that ten pence coin & two wheaties

The Winn-Dixie Money Bush

one night this past May I was biking my route thru the Winn-Dixie Plaza parking lots and- as usual- something caught my eye.. I parked my bike to investigate a gleaming I saw in the dirt around & under a coco plum... what I saw gleaming was a quarter, and as I drew my face down to the dirt I saw many many coins, like a piggy bank had been emptied into the bush.. I spent about twenty minutes around & under the bush picking coins from the stones.. it was a great haul that night



and as it turned out, the Money Bush wasn't finished giving.. weeks later, in september, I revisited the bush and not only found more coins, but a dollar bill in the bush, as well





unreal... I visited that bush one more time before all the landscaping in the plaza was torn out... I found another thirty-seven cents.. the Money Bush is no more, but all the landscaping will be replaced, and I'm going to assume there's still gonna be the occasional Change-Chucker.. so it's just a matter of time...
