It's a lamination error caused by an impurity in the metal.

Thanks for the info coaster. Why do I find Queen Elizabeth 2 so much more attractive with that scar running along her face?

Great Pics.,fairly common(to scarce) in 1922 3d's when sorting large numbers with a USB scope.
Guy in our small group of collectors up here on the North Coast of NSW(Aust.). found a 22 3d where the Mint has had several attempts to locate the final 2.
So further proves, along with the 1922/21 OD,that the Melbourne Mint were modifying Hubs/Dies.
Whether London knew or approved is another debate.

I'll throw the Pics. up when I find them.

A recent aquisition. 1952 Australian Shilling.
Can't decide if it is an off-centre Broad Strike (Struck outside collar) or a Mis-Strike. It has no rim milling, and is relatively flat, perhaps slightly dished on the reverse. Also slightly upset 11:30
Any thoughts?

Nice boardstrike Shilling, with blakesley effect.

Some rare overdates being auction at the moment.

I really enjoy this forum, the information exchange is fantastic.
I have seen the blakesly effect with clipped coins but didn't know it was associated with broad strikes.....who knew!

Thanks ryurazu.
