I finally picked up a John Adams plain edge. I have been saving for this one since early July.

Oh nice, I'm still keeping an eye out for the prices of GW plain egdes to come down some. I'm not an error coin collector, but I like the idea of having a coin with no year, mint mark and motto . Teletrade prices seem to be coming down some, they where starting at $90 a while back, and this weekend they more then 10 starting at $75 and only a single one sold for $85 (besides the "First Day of Issue" ones for a premium), so I'll keep watching a bit longer..

I think the GW plain edges should come down to around $65.00 by the end of the year. I have a plain edge Gw to go with my Adams. I'm still waiting to see if there is a plain Jefferson out there.

1862 Indian Head cent, VF, $22.

I don't collect Indian Head cents although I have quite a few. I didn't need this one, just liked how it looked. Yep, one of these day I will learn how to post pictures.

<--- New Avatar, new acquisition. Since rent is due this week, it may be my only buy.

$3.75, ebay.

Congo Democratic Republic,
1965, 10 Francs. Single year type. Most of these aluminum coins were recalled and melted only a few short years later, due to political change in the country.

So sad, this is just such a handsome coin.

Wow, I can't believe 'buy of the week' hasn't had a post in more than a week! Let's fix this problem!

I bought this 1945-D merc on ebay a few days ago and it arrived yesterday, for a cost of $6.33 including shipping. The coin should go MS-63 (held down by rather strong hit above the I and M in DIME on the reverse), and is, imo, a Full Band example.

I just won these two auctions on ebay. Oh, I know they're ugly little things, but I paid 1/2 of face value:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...WN:IT&ih=015

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...WN:IT&ih=015

I was already buying some pages from this seller, and there were no additional shipping charges.

I'm not too excited about the third one I picked up. I paid 3X face value on this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...WN:IT&ih=015

If nothing else - I could spend them!!

My buy of the week is actually a four coin deal. I kept seeing the ads in Coin World and curiosity finally got the best of me. If anyone is interested I can tell you the company. The deal was 4 "blazing white examples with excellent eye-appeal" and "lustrous BU". One each: Walker, Franklin, Morgan and Peace. All this for $49.50. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised. I will be equally as surprised when I get their catalog if the prices are this decent. Here is what I got (please forgive the scanner, I am working on getting my camera set-up):

Buy-Of-The-Week

Buy-Of-The-Week

Buy-Of-The-Week

The scans do not do the coins justice and there is at least twice what I paid in value in these coins. All four are frosty and have very nice eye-appeal. The 1942 Walker is the nicest. I'm very pleased!

Thanks,

Jim
