There are many aspects of the design that are artistically poor, such as the sun's rays not being radial or evenly spaced. I suspect this is a low quality artwork copy of a European cityscape medal. An original medal like this would probably have high silver content. It might be useful to see if a magnet sticks to this one. Report this Post to the Staff

Sap Moderator Australia 16868 Posts	Posted 03/20/2019 8:24 pm A bit of trivia: Hidden in the Latin inscription is a chronogram which tells the date. Take all the larger-than-normal letters (LVXDIIVILVLVLVMIV), convert each of those letters into its Roman-numeral equivalent number, and add all the numbers up, and you get 1744 - the date the medal was issued. The Germans of this time period liked putting little puzzles like that on their coins and medals. I would also agree that it seems to be a replica. Would need better pics of both sides to be more certain. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C.
