Certain types of acid affect metals differently. I've seen where it affects one metal and others times affects differently. Note the affect on the copper cents how one type of acid affected copper. Then note on the image of the quarter, how the silver cladding was only affected with some affect on the copper under the cladding. I feel this coin was laid into a few drops on the surface like glass or something and the obverse side was affected laying in the acid, but not covering the rest of the coin. Other times the copper on the edges were affected on the edges, but not the cladding. Which acid is which? I don't know.
