Marymom1 New Member Canada 2 Posts	Posted 04/25/2019 5:17 pm I have a straightforward question. I am trying to determine if a coin that I own is worth anything. I am told that one of the things to look for is whether there is a mint mark. I am also told that for the particular coin I have, the mint mark is a letter of the alphabet found on the heads side of the coin. I examined my coin to where the mint mark is supposed to be. When I look there, I don't see a distinct letter, like a P art a D or any other alphabet letters. Instead, I see a small little roundish blob - like you would see if a very tiny piece of solder fell on something and solidified into a tiny roundish shape. Is this a common thing, and is it an indication that there is no mint mark on this particular coin, or could it be there there was a letter of the alphabet that is a mint mark, but somehow got obscured to look like a roundish shape? From what it sounds like, it could be a smashed MM or possibly a broken post, but will need pictures to confirm. Report this Post to the Staff
