Looks like a stain to me from Environmental Damage.

You think that looping line rim-to-rim around the date is environmental damage?

Yes Coinfrog. What's your question about it?

Try giving it a soak in 100% pure Acetone. If it comes off, then it's just a stain.

Most of the time, stains don't come out. Perhaps a stain on a coin in a cup holder with a string in the mix. Just a spender.
