since this coin has seen better days, I was wondering if this could just be late Die Deterioration? any thoughts?

TY... this would need to be DDO for the mark to be and I do not see anything else. my first impression, before noticing the mark, was a die clash. this coin, however, is just in pretty bad shape. LOL :)

@wrenes, the best method for determining if you have a die clash is to create an overlay (or look at one that someone else has created). That will let you know whether marks could be a result of a clash. In the particular case of this coin, I'm not seeing anything that looks like a clash.
