Blank Planchet Attribution? - Coin Community Forum

SomeGreatLuster New Member United States 15 Posts	Posted 09/19/2019 2:13 pm Hello Everyone, I came across this while searching through some coins. It is the exact size if a quarter and weighs 6.3 grams. It is jind of magnetic when I place a strong magnet to it. When I reflect it in the right light you can make out some images. Like die clashing maybe? Is this still considered a blank planchet? Can anyone tell me if this is a legitimate error or is it post mint damage? thanks everyone Report this Post to the Staff

It is difficult to see any type of images other than some type of blank with the pics provided. Being magnetic has me a little stumped. What is it's diameter? oriole Pillar of the Community Canada 5258 Posts	Posted 09/19/2019 5:53 pm I see no reason to think that it is a US 25 cent blank planchet. A lot of things can be the diameter of a US quarter, such as a blank token. Also, what is it made of? Can you see any cladding? Report this Post to the Staff

It might be a foreign blank actually because I found it at the flea market from a coin dealer who focused on South American Coins, but I actually found it in a huge random container he had of modern American coins. I guess I have to just categorize it as an unknown planchet or something? There seems to be a reddish hue like a copper layer underlying. Report this Post to the Staff
