Curveball Valued Member United States 376 Posts	Posted 10/04/2019 02:33 am Recently decided to open some 72s rolls while checking them I came across a few different mint marks in different positions and shapes any insight would be appreciated. Look close at the mint mark. This one the top of the s is open and just below the seven. Spence Moderator United States 34455 Posts	Posted 10/04/2019 04:42 am @cb, as to the position of the mintmarks, this process was done by hand to the dies in 1972 and so there is some natural variation. We typically say that if the mintmark is touching another design element (like the date) then you have something interesting.
