The previous coin or token was from Israel and that's all I know about it. But since it is a thread killer, lets replace my coin with a fairly easy one and absolutely one of my favorites.

Yes you got it and now, I am off the hook. Thank you. I suppose it is your turn. Don't you agree it is one of the most beautiful US coins ever minted? I don't own any but someday .... someday I'll get one.

Another lucky guess on my part. And now - for something different: Image: 1959coin.jpg15.73 KB I recently found an example of this coin in a 22-pound bag of foreign coins that I was searching through, and after someone identifies it, I'll provide the URL's that I accessed to find out more about it. Quite an interesting story, especially for those of you who are interested in languages. I will accept the name of the issuer of the coin OR the country that it was minted in, as well as the denomination. And it IS a coin, as it was used in commerce. Have at it!

1 Stelo, Esperanto Foundation. Aluminium-Bronze Unusual world coins catalogue number X3. More of a token than a coin.

That didn't take long! Image: SteloObv.jpg17.45 KB Image: SteloRev.jpg16.88 KB This coin, or maybe token, was minted in The Netherlands along with other denominations, and its value was set the same as a loaf of bread in 1959 - but didn't last long. There's more on Wikipedia (which actually seems to be accurate with this article) plus at http://www.chiefacoins.com/Database...la-Ligo.htm. Esperanto was of course a "made-up" language which at one boasted world-wide participants. In fact, you could even earn a Merit Badge in Scouts by learning and communicating in Esperanto at one time. And now, over to you, QuickSilver.

I have a nice example of the silver 25 Steloj. Next one I have removed the legend.

Just to bump this, I'll guess that this is a 1000-latka coin from East Taxenia, 1888.
