Hello all. I found this 2008 P Presidential dollar that looks like every thing on the rim is double die but I need help identifying it. I couldn't find anything on the web that looked like this. Thank you.

Well keep in mind, these devices on the edge are incuse, not raised. So like the ATB Quarters, the collar/edge striking collar has raised devices. So even the slightest movement before/during/after the addition to coin would make it look doubled, but it isn't a doubled collar/striking collar. Just Machine Doubling.

It looks like normal edge lettering. The incuse design and the lighting may cause the letters to look slightly doubled, but I don't see an error. I've never heard of the edge lettering being "doubled die." I have seen doubled lettering on the edge, but that's really obvious, as it been impress twice and can even be upside down to one another.

Also on the proof coins, they use three dies at the same time on them. So the obverse/reverse/edge are all added at the same time:

All good stuff. That's everyone. I just didn't know because they all have a raised edge in the middle of the letter and or number

What causes that edge? The devices are incuse. (raised on the die) so to make it plow into the edge of the coin, it has a wedge shape to push the metal aside to form those devices. The chizel edge is what your are seeing.
