Hi
is there anybody w/ better information than Krause on this GB 3 pence ?

The 1920 is reported in both km# 813 and 813a w/ the same weight, I'm ataching pictures for a 1919 and a 1920, they seems different, what do you think about ?

Of course, this is not a life question, just to talk about coins.

G'day,
1920 was the year that U.K. changed from sterling, 92.5%, to 50% silver.

That's what the difference is between 813 and 813a - the silver fineness. It is unfortunate that Britain chose not to put any kind of distinguishing mark on the lower fineness coins.

I don't think there's a truly reliable way to tell the difference, short of using an X-ray spectrometer, but subjectively, a circulated coin of .500 fineness should appear "greener" than a similarly aged .925 fine coin, dur to the higher copper content. And the one you've tentatively labelled "A" does indeed look greener.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Density - you're my density OOOPS destiny

Sorry couldn't resist - check the density of the coin - they shall be different. I don't have my Chem/Physics here. But the .925 should be more I'm sure - I think

You need to say in what way the seem different. I don't see anything!
Oh yes, the grade's different, one's a VG6 and the other could be an 8!
