Quote: Update for January 16th: 1850 (yay!), 1790, 1786 also filled... Down to 8 missing dates at 1800-present, and 13 (12?) more at 1750-1800. Congrats! I've filled 1617 in my Poland OFEY, and am looking at a couple of slightly later dates ... while I wait for opportunities on some tougher dates I'm missing in the 1500s.

WOW! Quite an accomplishment for only 13% of the way into the year. My update: Quote: 2. Acquire more early dated coins (1474-1506) that fit within my existing themes. Obtained 1490, 1494, 1499, 1501
3. Acquire the few missing 16th century dates in my Kingdom of Poland OFEY: 1516, 1553, 1590. I lost out on a 1553 in a recent auction, but have picked up these missing dates in the next century: 1617, 1631, 1684

Improve my U.S. type collection and my collection of pre-1961 Soviet and Imperial Russian coinage.

Quote: 6) Formalize my USSR non-commemorative type set progress, figure out what (if anything) I'm still missing, and get it (...discounting the 1921 ruble and the gold, which are out of my budget) ...You'd be surprised. Actually, this is not 1921 but 1922, a much scarcer date that I forgot even existed. Even in this condition, the coin cost me 1800 rubles (about $30). The gold is still out of my budget, but it's also much easier to exclude (it's gold), and for that matter probably never circulated in the first place. On the other hand, ironically enough, I might still be missing the 1924 ruble...

So far in 2020, I Imanaged to pick up a few of the pre-1500 dated coins for my OFEY colection (but not 1497, the top priority year).
Also, picked up my last missing modern commemorative $5 coin (the 1996-W Smithsonian -- very hard to find in MS69 for some reason, but not expensive at all). This is for the enhanced 7070 set.

That '22 Ruble looks like it could pass as a lowball, given enough time in a pocket.

Quote: That '22 Ruble looks like it could pass as a lowball, given enough time in a pocket. Not really; the hit to the date is pretty deep (enough time in a pocket to wear it down to less obvious would also wear down the date itself to unreadability), and (not visible in the photo) there's some weirdness going on with the edges (the sides are sticking out, while the comparatively recessed middle is relatively intact - which after some careful examination allowed me to determine the edge lettering variety).

update: Quote:1. Get those last two PCGS Ikes! Done! 2. Fill the last seven core Dansco album holes (7000-3, 7070- 2 1, 8100-2) 3. Start the extended part of the PCGS-Ike set (1990, 2013, 2015) 4. Buy whatever appeals to me from 2020 US Mint offerings (2019 was a record year for me)

With the first quarter under our belts (at least for me), here is where I stand...
1. Spend far less on coins than I did in 2019. I was doing OK until the mid-March auctions (clearly I should have given up coins for Lent). I'm now around same point as last year. Need a dose of self-discipline.
2. Acquire more early dated coins (1474-1506)... Have gotten 1478, 1481, 1490, 1494, 1499, 1501, 1503
3. Acquire the few missing 16th century dates in my Kingdom of Poland OFEY: 1516, 1553, 1590. Have gotten the 1553. I also got my first 13th century Polish coin which is a very tough era (and a contributor to missing goal #1), and filled a number of early 17th c. dates: 1602, 1617, 1625, 1631.
