This is the best looking steel cent that I have found myself, it's a shame about the corrosion on the obverse. I am still curious about what you all would grade it at, everything here lets me learn just that much more.

I appreciate all the responses to all of my posts, thanks for making a newbie feel welcome!

I'll say AU-58, but clearly a details coin.

A close up of this coin. I was wondering, would acetone help clean this, or should I just leave it alone?

MS-61, just spotting, not corrosion.

Not worth the effort of conservation. There are millions of these in the marketplace in mint state for cheap.

It a shame that someone (along time ago) most likely sneezed over that cent...I'd leave it alone

MS-60 for me. Sneezing as a cause for spotting works, or maybe on the kitchen counter, too close to the stove-top where bacon is being fried.
Rest in Peace

due to the metal composition during the war years these coins were very susceptible to corrosion, rust and spotting if anything in the environment where they were stored where to make its way to the surfaces including humidity.

Indeed.

The only real reason these are cheap and plentiful today is that mass numbers were hoarded. It still amazes me how excited people are over 43's still today. As a Lincoln collector, I just don't get excited anymore unless it's an exceptional coin. The millions of MS-63 and lower coins out there are like novelty tokens to me.
