Sweeet! Can we make it to the 14th century?

Quote: Jan1may' suggests that 1410 may be the next black hole. Yes, the remaining missing 15th century dates are 1410, 1406, 1404, 1402, 1401, 1400. Pretty coin! It does look like 815 for me, though I'd probably need a close-up of that 5 to be sure it's not a 0. (It's too round to be any other digit.) [EDIT: from the pictures I think the arc ends just before the rim, which would make it a definite 5, but I can't quite tell for sure.]

Yes I've got a couple of coins to post for 1411, once we've got confirmation to move forward, but have lots of holes in this earliest decade of the 15th Century.

Quote: Yes I've got a couple of coins to post for 1411, once we've got confirmation to move forward, but have lots of holes in this earliest decade of the 15th Century. Seems good enough for me... Time to update the title. With that being said, Spence, I will defer to your decision when to post the 1411. If you would prefer to wait for ttkoo to have the coin in hand, that is okay with me.

No--my vote is to move forward. I just wanted to make sure that we had good agreement on the last digit of the date. Here is a Groat from the Netherlands Couty of Holland that is datable to 1411 AD. The attribution is Chantard VIII.5 and Grolle 19.3.7.

Just to add some further credence to this AH 815 coin, this is an excerpt from Arabic Coins & How To Read Them by Richard Plant: Here are some examples from IndianCoins.com of 814, 815, 819 and 820, to show the peculiarities of the alternate shapes of the 4,5 and zero in use at that time. The 5 is shaped like an epsilon, the 9 always has the flat back post, and the o for zero is always centered to the other numbers, set down lower. (I show the 4 just because it is peculiar. I also show the 820 as I couldn't find an example of the 810) Acknowledging IndianCoins.com for using cuts of their stock photos
AH 814 ----------------------------------------------------------------- AH 815 ----------------------------------------------------------------- AH 819 - note the flat back post ------------------------------------------------------------------- AH 820 - note the o is centered vertically to the other numerals --------------------------------------------------------------------

Pretty 1411 coin, and I agree with ttkoo's comments on the 815 date! I hadn't realized that the 0 was consistently below-line like that; AFAICT it's the same on 80x coins, so this has to be 815.
I believe @augustus1 has a nice AD dated 1411; if we end up stuck waiting for 1410 for a while then hopefully they get to post that.

While we wait for a coin from 1410, here is a Groschen from Aachen dated 1411 AD. I have attributed it as Levinson I-10.
