Quote: Here is my 1413 coin. No doubts here, a single issue beginning June 1413, ending November same year, when it was replaced by my and Spence's 1413-1414 coin. France 1413, gros "aux lis", Rouen. Duplessy 381. Excellent! We can move to 1412 (815) immediately since 1413 was technically yesterday.

Fine idea, but typically we want to avoid posts like that.

Maybe we should just make a general thread in the ancient subforum for pre-1500 dated/datable coins? (Or maybe multiple threads split up per period - say 1-500, 501-1000, and 1001-1500, for example.) The hard part honestly would be figuring out how to avoid having put all of that into Gallery Topics where it would just get lost.
(I also kinda want a How Far Forward thread but it would have to start with like 1 AD or something and could get stalled in the first few dates unless it skips somehow)

The Ancients forum has the "Walking Back In Time From 1600 To Antiquity By Decades" topics. Are those where you usually look?
I would not want additional topics to create any confusion, but if you think it might be a good idea then it is worth a shot.

Quote: Are those where you usually look? Yes? At least the listings I do here are mostly based on those. There used to be a "post your pre-1600 dated coins" thread (forgot if it was limited to AD dated coins specifically) and a "post your dated coins from the 1st century" thread, but neither of those had been active for many years (not helped by the latter's organizer being bounced off from CCF, IIRC).

Quote: There used to be a "post your pre-1600 dated coins" thread I don't remember that one, but I did create a Levinson thread a few years back for dated European coins of 1500 and earlier. I'm not finding it now though.

Quote: Turns out it's likely that the arrows are in fact pointing at the units figure of the date - but it's in words, not in digits? Cf. Zeno 73702, see bottom comment for legend translation.
I don't know remotely enough Arabic to have any idea if that makes sense. Kushanshah might know better.
This type should be Album 992 if I'm reading the description of Zeno 115617 correctly. Now I am completely convinced of the date on my 1/2 dirham. https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=110827Note the date in text on the left hand image, I can make out the text for the 1 of 18 and wiser heads can make out the 8 . edit. My coin on Zeno is wrongly attributed to Hamah, instead of Dimashq (rookie error)
