1375 CE (AH 777) Delhi Sultanate billon tanka, Firuz Shah Tughluq, GG# D475 I'm fairly certain this is *my last showing for the 6th edition, so I guess I'll see you on the 7th edition as it catches up. * unless someone holds a 1372 that they ain't played yet

How fun that we have made it back far enough for me to post this 1375 AD-dated Groschen from Aachen! It was minted at Jungheit and I have attributed it as Levinson I-4a.

Thx all. It is the sort of coin that is occasionally available (I count six of them shown on ac search), but you need to close your eyes when bidding so that you don't chicken out.

 - a stunning coin! This will probably be our last AD dated coin unless we manage to get all the way to the 1250s (the 1374 Aachen issue is very expensive).

There's a reason this date had a question mark in my listings... Obverse (?): hexagram, with dots between rays; six pointed asterisk in center, apparently also with dots between rays; all within round border Reverse (?): date (reads as x86, but probably 776), Arabic inscription above (illegible on this example); all within round border, which is apparently within dotted border Anatolia, Beyliks of uncertain beylik (possibly Menteshe?) AE fals (?) or mangir (?) dated [x86?] = probably 776 16x15 mm, 0.98 g Numista 309426; cf. Zeno 229143, 229144, 272145, 272146 (all attributed to 776) more distantly cf. Numista 301424, Zeno cat. 5146 (type with similar obverse attributed to Menteshe) Note that the Zeno link in Numista 309426 is apparently wrong - it points to a Golden Horde issue. The relevant Zeno coins are in category 13763, which is a catch-all entry for unattributed Anatolian AE types. I don't know who first attributed this type to 776. I agree that my coin is clearly of the same type as the "776" coins, though. [EDIT: fixed copy-paste link error]

@january1may Firstly the link to 272145 is directing to 229144, but nonetheless, to me there is no doubt that yours is from the same year as the other dated examples. Your coin and three of the examples show a small circle (776 o), and the three examples are all discernable as being 776. The example 229143, when mirrored twice through the horizontal and vertical planes is 772, but this is quite a common fault in medieval issues, as nicely explained previously by JohnConduitt. I vote yes.

I'll be sure to check if I can see it there too. Link fixed.
