Started sorting through my Canadian 1997-2012 pennies today and, despite not having found anything special, thought I'd make a quick post outlining what I did:

1) I spread out my pennies, got a large enough magnet (the size of an egg) and ran it on top of them.
2) I looked at the ones that stuck to the magnet for a "P" symbol or RCM logo (under the Queen's neck). As expected, they all had either one. So I set those aside and...
3) I looked at the rest that hadn't stuck to the magnet for a "P" symbol (which would be an error; "P" pennies are supposed to stick) but haven't found any; they either had an RCM logo or nothing.

Thanks to this post (with a detailed list of what to look for, when sorting through 1997-2012 pennies) for getting me started: http://goccf.com/t/147681

So I'll be depositing these pennies at the bank and moving on to my next batch: Canadian 1990-1996 pennies (which should be non-magnetic).
