As I have sold these pieces from my collection, it makes it much more difficult to check the actual notes, but I'm still looking into this............

I'll definitely get back to everyone about those small 1pf & 2pf pieces..............when I have the answer!!

Whilst sorting through some notgeld on my desk this evening, I came across these lovely looking pieces from Stuetzerbach, which I want to show you:

German-Notgeld-Collector-Of-46-Years,-From-Uk.

The 6 pieces form a complete set. The long 50pf piece is sometimes folded, so it is worth seeking out an unfolded piece. Stuetzerbach issued a couple of other very colourful sets of serienscheine.

A nice looking 'comical' set now from Altona:

German-Notgeld-Collector-Of-46-Years,-From-Uk.

There are 2 different watermarks in the paper used, so 2 sets to collect........if you really get into this. Described as 'Wz. Tropfen' & 'Wz. Z-Muster' in the catalogues, the watermark (Wasserzeichen) is either 'Tropfen' (looks like drops when you hold the piece up to the light) or 'Z-Muster' (you can see 'Z' shapes in the watermark). Luckily, most of the watermarks are shown in either the very front or very back of the notgeld catalogues.

Look at these 2 x 10pf notes from Lobeda. The more usual / common piece is on the right. It has 6 sausages down each side and the dog is pulling on 2 more.
The scarcer variant piece is the note on the left - with the 'long' sausage. One of the sausages for the dog has also disappeared.....

You know what they say - 'German jokes are bad but the ones about the sausages are the 'wurst''!!

The note actually says 'Everything has an end......but the sausage has two!!' - I think that's great Snippets of info like this make it fun to keep collecting I think.

Look at the imagery on this note, taken from the homepage of my notgeld website. A wonderful looking note from Gummersbach:

With its very low serial number of '0046', one can almost determine that it is a scarce banknote. A name of a company too (see the 'G.m.b.H.' or 'Co.Ltd') can also sometimes be another good indication.........not always, but things a collector can start to look out for. As they say......knowledge is powerful for a collector.

Here is another wonderfully designed piece, in my opinion, this time from Bad Heesen:

German-Notgeld-Collector-Of-46-Years,-From-Uk.
Left:
A. I cannot help this animal, it's beyond the ability of science.
B. (to himself) In that case I'll go to VOIGT in Heessen.

Right:
A. Is this the horse I gave up on?
B. Yes, VOIGT cured it with 1 and 2 and sun lamp, it's a delight.

Bottom:
This note will expire on 1st April 1921.
Heessen near Bad Eilsen, on 1st January 1921. The Municipal Commissioner, Meier

To give this some context: on the 25pf note from the same set, dating from 1921, it states:
'Born in Heessen upon Awe on 15th November 1869, Heinrich Voigt made a great discovery in 1897.
For he noticed that he was a big genius at curing cows. He just always gave his patients medicine 1 and 2.
From that day on, he helped many, many ill cows and cattle in Germany and even does today.'
