Here is a piece of verkehrsausgaben that I am sure you won't have seen before - it is uncatalogued! It was issued in Hamborn.

A very interesting looking Austrian notgeld, in the format of a 'Totenschein' (Death Certificate')

These 'Totenschein' pieces from Austria, were issued in a set of 3. Here are the other 2 face values. (1 piece has sold but the other 2 pieces are still available to buy from my notgeld.com shop):

Thanks @jbuck. I think the design in very bold black and with the cross, is very striking. I wonder if they are really a sarcastic hidden message about the death of real money......the disappearance of metal coins which the people valued?

Quote: I wonder if they are really a sarcastic hidden message about the death of real money......the disappearance of metal coins which the people valued? That actually makes sense! I can see it being a deliberate jab at the loss of hard money.

Here is a hyper inflationary notgeld piece from Attendorn, designed to be folded in half.......It happened a lot with the larger physical sizes of the inflationary issues, so people could have the notes in their purses / wallets / pockets etc......so it looks like someone took that onboard.

Just acquired another note listed in Notgeldmans Book - "Tarnished Gems". See if you can find what is tarnished on it.

The only thing that catches my eye are the four swastikas hidden in the shapes, but they are reversed and aligned differently than the more notorious depiction.
I suppose they can be intentional or coincidental. Interesting nonetheless.

I thought I saw it in "Tarnished Gems" but now I can't find it in the book. I know I saw the information on this note that he posted somewhere.

I do now mention the note as it could be an intentional thing the designer wanted to incorporate in the banknote design, without actually stating anything obvious. This period was the time of political upheaval and a lot of distrust between several political groups and factions. It could be coincidental. Other collectors have noticed the markings so I needed to add it in.
