This period was the time of political upheaval and a lot of distrust between several political groups and factions. It could be coincidental. Other collectors have noticed the markings so I needed to add it in.

It is certainly possible and should be considered. This period is something we need to study and remember as history is wont to repeat itself.

teehee....
Here are the ones on my mind: The last scan is the reverse of the 3 Cafe Diele pieces. I like the way the rats run circles around the instruments on the obverse sides. On the other 2 pieces, only the 50pf has rats on the obverse.

I sold this piece (it isn't notgeld') but didn't take the measurements - it is the longest 'banknote' I have seen. It was a 'made up' piece made by children of the era!

This one has 21 zeros but they call it a 'Trilliade'
1,000,000,000 - milliarde (1000 million)
1,000,000,000,000 - 1 billion
1,000,000,000,000,000 - 1 billiard
1,000,000,000,000,000,000 - 1 trillion
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 - 1 trilliard

This one is 240mm long or nearly 9 1/2 inches!
It is a piece of 'grossgeld' notgeld from 1918.

Possibly silly question: are previously-uncatalogued notgeld types still being found? Does every so often someone show up with a new small-town or otherwise obscure note that was so rare as to be unknown to the people who made the catalogs?

(I'm talking about actually different types here, for the record, not minor varieties in coloring or lettering or whatever; I do realize not all of those are recorded yet.
Could there even be entirely previously unattested notgeld issuers that had avoided attention so far? And if so, how would anyone check that those things are legit?)

No question is silly here - everyone can learn something new......and it is so good to have these types of queries, across this friendly forum
Yes, new notgeld (totally uncatalogued) pieces are being discovered every now and again. I had one a couple of months back. There are enough 'experts' still around to get those pieces verified. Those people will also spot a 'wrong-un', a modern piece made up by someone.
The original researcher and catalogue writer for notgeld issues was Dr.Arnold Keller.
Ink and ink patterns on paper can be checked as can the paper itself. I found a 'fake' modern 'forgery' a couple of years ago ....and published that new found knowledge, to hopefully protect collectors in the future. I had that piece xrf tested (x-ray fluorescence). That told me and 3 other ' experts' a lot. I think I posted it all here, much earlier on. Forums like this can be a good source of knowledge. In my 50 years of collecting I have found that some German so called 'experts', do tend to find non-German 'thoughts and research' very hard to accept.
