Yes - nice if you can get a bargain. Most of the sellers in Germany do tend to know what they are selling though. Collecting notgeld opens up avenues to get scarcer pieces (that the seller might not be aware of) because there are numerous variants of pieces. This is a good example:

Here's a cute German notgeld piece from 1921 from the Federal state of Anhalt in the District of Ballenstedt. 30 pfennig total but perforated so it could be two 5's and two 10's.

I've always liked the spider catching ts prey picture. It's from a 'common' set of 3. There is a scarce variant set which all have serial numbers, so look out for those! Here are the 3 reverses just in case you don't have the complete set:

What a great thread. I've been out of the game for a while (five years since I posted here! ) and it was so fun to find all this Notgeld when I dipped my toes back in. I became a member of Notgeld.com just shy of three years ago, and then very shortly after that my collection took a back seat to LIFE. An upcoming trip to Germany has rekindled my love for Notgeld. If you have any rare pieces from Düren, I'd love to see them. edit: your Düren uncut 100 mark note is high on my wishlist! And I had never seen the Zwanzig Billionen until I ran across it on your site last night. Sehr cool!

That's super.....and thanks for the positive feedback. My main driver is to bring notgeld information to interested collectors and to stop some of these rip-off merchants on selling platforms getting away with atrocious prices. Good to welcome you back and hope to hear from you soon. I'm publishing new articles on a regular basis so anyone out there thinking of joining, please do. I will keep posting here but the great majority of notgeld info is on my website. (That Dueren uncut note is the only one I ever had/have) I'll postca picture of it here, later today.

These Dueren pieces were made from 'leftover' 100 mark notes. The uncut pieces are hard to comeby.
