I do not think he knows what he's talking about, or maybe he's pulling your chain. Here is what you want to reference for FS-101: http://www.varietyvista.com/09b%20W...1DDDO002.htm. I do not see the split serifs on Liberty. The arrows are pointing to Machine Doubling, not hub doubling. Doubling on the motto is master hub doubling present from 51-54. What you're seeing on the mint mark is Machine Doubling as well, not an RPM. Did this dealer make you an offer?

I am seeing MD as well. Find a new LCS for errors/varieties.

Not a RPM or a DDO. One word. Run! A DDO should have the devices on the motto enlarged and sometimes showing notching in the corners:

Note how all the devices on this coin, has all the motto devices showing a spread (wider/taller) on the devices. That coin is showing Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration and coin contact.

Not a bother to us. Sorry he decided to screw with you instead of being actually helpful. That is pretty lame and childish of him.

It could be that really thinks the coin is a doubled die, when it isn't. It would not be the first time a coin shop could be wrong. We deal here a lot on educational identification of coins. So we often help new ones. Seeing why something is or isn't is always always a better answer than just yes or no. My goal is to help everyone see what I see on a coin and learn, rather than to guess.
