1886 Or 96 Indian Head Cent? - Coin Community Forum

After further examination, I am torn between this being an 1886 or an 1896 with odd damage. Any insight would be helpful. Thank you! Report this Post to the Staff

Vindex Valued Member United States 117 Posts	Posted 03/29/2020 10:56 am In this case the 9 is clearly visible. Even if the 9 were not clearly visible, you could tell it is a 1896 by the position of the 1. It is right of the bottom of the neck. In the 1886 the 1 is farther to the left just past the bottom of the neck in the type 1 variety. Also the oval of the 9 is more elongated than an 8 would be. Report this Post to the Staff
