I'll tell you a secret, jBucks favorite coin is any that features ugly bald guys Mine, its really hard that's like asking which kid is my favorite and depending on who annoyed me that day, its not that one But we are talking about coins. Well I really like the Winged Mercury dime, and when they did it in gold, I really wanted that one. But that's not the prettiest, the Enhanced Reverse Proofs are the prettiest to me. And the first escudo coins from Portugal are also up there (for a different reason, as I was born in Portugal and the history of the coins).

Quote: its really hard that's like asking which kid is my favorite and depending on who annoyed me that day, its not that one That's very true! I would have a hard time choosing as well if it weren't for the sentimental value attached to my grandfather's coins. But you have some truly amazing coins! Quote: the Enhanced Reverse Proofs are the prettiest to me That's a stunner. I might have to add one of those to the wants list

Well, I'm still learning how to go about posting pictures so I don't have any to share yet. I haven't really been able to spend much money on coins yet (fingers crossed that changes soon) so most of my coins have come from circulation or from gifts. Nothing impressive, but two of my favorites are the 1884 Morgan (VF30-XF40 by my best guesses) and 1897 Barber Half given to me by a buddy in my band.
My favorite series is probably Lincoln cents, but I'm still working on trying to find most of those from circulation (the teens are very lacking).
I'm just not really at a point where I can buy lots of coins yet (still in school so I have more pressing matters), but soon enough that'll change. I'm just enjoying the hunt and learning as much about coins and currency as possible so I'll have a better idea of what sets I want to build later on and can avoid some of the common mistakes.

Wow those are gorgeous! Hopefully one day I'll have a set to rival yours I can work on taking some pictures later tonight, but my coins sure aren't anything impressive like yours.

An opinion from someone outside the USA. It's a hard question and possibly unpopular one if you have so many coins that could be considered favourites. Of course its easy if you have a sentimental coin you love or one you had since you were 3 - but for people like me who only got serious 3 years ago and spent that time accumulating what I consider a nice collection, its hard. Again the criteria - is it value, condition, popularity, sheer aesethics or what? Here are my candidates in no order and by category. 1. Shiny really old grand looking expensive coin. UK 1826 Halfcrown with much lustre and only light wear. 2. Local Rarity close to home 1935 NZ Threepence - the rosetta stone of NZ coins and the one missing from 98% of collections. 3. Historical curiosity from a distant era England 1594/96 shilling of Queen Elizabeth the 1st, hammered 4. Beautiful old design and intricacy NZ local token - 1866 New Plymouth I know its cheating, but ask many other numismatists and you will get the same thing.

I don't consider it cheating at all! I just want to see people's favorite coin(s), regardless of the reason that that coin is the favorite. I totally understand having more than one favorite, as I do, too. I don't know much about New Zealand coins but those are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing

Here's those pictures I promised... nothing impressive, but mine none the same. 1909 Lincoln Cent (looks like Abe's been through a lot) 1884 Morgan Dollar- I know with the gunk on the reverse it's probably a details coin, but any guess on its grade? 1897 Barber Half- AG3? G4? What do you guys think?

I like the Morgan, but you should dip it in acetone. I've never been a fan of the barbers. As far as the Lincoln wheats stay until you get 50 posts and I'll mail you one of the teens I have extra.
