I see no listings for that year and mint for something like that. There is a 1951-S that looks similar, but totally different. Why is it different?

Because if is raised off the fields. On your coin it looks like that affected area of the mintmark took a hit, and now that area is flat. So I feel this is not a RPM. Just a bad hit the coin took on that area. Sorry.

Always ask when you have a question. That way you can move on. Other wise you have a whole lot of unknown coins that you will look at someday. You know, I'll get to it tomorrow. (like that happens?)
