Still upgrading my completed 7070 to AU or BU as money allows. Just picked up a 1914-D Barber dime in MS-65 at the bid board at my coin store. I also have a bid in on a MS-62 1866 Shield nickel with Rays. That one is very expensive (gulp) but I just had to have it. If I win that one all my nickels will be uncirculated. I also picked up this toned 1893 Columbian Half Dollar to replace the very dark one I currently have in the album. Here are the seller pictures. Not sure about grade or artificial toning and would welcome any opinions.

Without seeing the coin my guess is original toning and MS64-65 as a grade. Just my humble opinion.

My God man, what kind of bid board does your shop run? My bid board occasionally has $100-200 coins but nothing like MS65 Barbers As far as the Columbian, that is one of the best raw examples I have seen in a while, lovely golden-rainbow toning and solid MS64. If it has any rub, I don't see it in the pics.

Well Bio the Barber dime is raw, but it is flawless as far as I can see, with just a tiny mark on the cheek. The winning bid was in the $100-200 range you mentioned. Loaded with luster and not cleaned or dipped. My very experienced dealer, with no ulterior motive, called it a 64 or 65 when I showed it to him after I won it. There were a couple of other Barbers in MS grade, but the 14-D was the best. Dealer told me he wished he had a chance to buy them before the guy hung them. Lately some really nice coins have been showing up. I attribute it to the economy. Of course there is still lots of junk also.

Thanks for the opinion on the half. I hope it looks like that in hand.

Thanks all. Well I won the 1866 Shield nickel with Rays so that makes all my 7070 nickels uncirculated. Believe I will stop spending for awhile and try and be happy. Who am I kidding?
