to CCF. My first thought is DDD=die deterioration doubling,but the U looks interesting. I will wait for the pros.

Machine Doubling on a proof nickel. This could have several directions happen during the strike. The die is normal, but the Machine Doubling could happen twice with a sloppy machine, because they are struck twice and the MD can happen differently each strike. So a combo of die wear and Machine Doubling. On a DDO nickel the they doubling could look a bit more like this:
The doubling would probably show on the centers of the devices. (I thought I have a lot more of the DDOs, but I have more of the DDRs instead)
