I couldn't believe it. Is the world going crazy? This is a coin in poor condition, I'd grade it as a P1, and maybe that's charitable. It sold for almost $30, including shipping. A few weeks earlier I bought a batch of cents, including a 1924-D in better condition than that for about half the price.

Why this?
Bidding frenzy.
People are rediscovering penny collecting?
Who knows?

Most coins I see on ebay are more than what they were a year ago, specifically silver coins because silver has gone up so much.

NOT a P1 at all. But definitely not worth almost 30 bucks IMO. But hey, people with too much time and money on their hands...

I wonder sometimes if people bid on their own stuff with a different account to start a fake bidding war, hoping someone will see the high bid and bid a little higher. Just my own conspiracy theory, but I'm sure it happens to some degree.... wish I could sell all my junky pennies for that price!
