1989 Lincoln Cent With Capped Die Error?

mb560600 Valued Member United States 365 Posts	Posted 08/24/2020 10:49 pm I'm a newbie at coin variety/error collecting. My wife emptied her piggie bank and let me examine the coins. One of them is this Lincoln Penny with a notable depression around the OBV and REV perimeters. Is this what is termed a Capped Die Error? How rare is this? Report this Post to the Staff

Petespockets55 Pillar of the Community United States 5785 Posts	Posted 08/25/2020 06:14 am I agree it is from Die Deterioration but I believe a Ridge Ring is only raised, not recessed like the perimeter of this coin. So I'm not sure what the actual term might be. Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow. Report this Post to the Staff
