Hello CCF members!

Hopefully someone who is very familiar with Indian coins could help with me this issue—2007 5 rupee coin.

I couldn't find any information on its security edge.

I do believe I have a mule according to this page on Numista:

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces5021.html

But the problem is that my coin has a very small part on its edge where it shows it is crude or something like it is being stepped on? I do not see any information on this specific part of the coin itself?

I would love to upload the photo or two but I do not know how to take a photo of the edge without touching the sides of the coin?

I do hope it is not a fake which is sadly common in India now.

Many thanks for your help in advance,

Carrigna

"I do not know how to take a photo of the edge without touching the sides of the coin?"

Think about it.
There must be a way to hold the coin on edge to place it and then hold it up to take a picture.

I am a bit confused. Those coins shown are from Thailand.

The coins are not the subject.
The reply is showing the OP a few ways to hold a coin to get pictures of the edge.

Thanks, Albert, for your suggestions! They are helpful!

I used a glue stick and put the coin on top without having to touch sides.

I think I get a good photo out of the edge or rim.

Your coin may have been "mounted". As if someone made a necklace, pendant or charm bracelet using the KM#330 coin.

Thanks, Albert!

So I basically have a damaged mule coin here.

The link from Numista is very helpful, too.

I will inform the seller that it had been mounted at one point. A bit odd because 5 rupees is not much money but again we do the same with our nickels and dimes even pennies.

I do not think he will be willing to give me a break on the coin. But he will lose my repeated business, I think?

Again, I thank you for your help and expertise! I am just glad the coin is not a fake at all!
