Maybe you should post pictures of your entire coin (front and back) first.

to CCF. Date and denomination in the title is needed. Looks like high bounce Machine Doubling (MD) and early Die Deterioration Doubling ( DDD)?

Full coin pics and denomination would help.

Definitely a die chip with some slight Die Deterioration, but possibly a repunched date on the first 8 and the 2.

This is a repunched date. Now that I know it's a 1882-S I was able to find a partial match.

VAM-9: http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...1882-S_VAM-9

Die chip, date position, repunching, and even the Die Deterioration are a match to the obverse of VAM-9.
The only thing that doesn't seem to match is mintmark location, maybe a different reverse die?
Or maybe since VAM-9 is supposed to have a "S tilted left" and the one in the photos looks fairly upright, maybe it has the wrong reverse photos?
