I would think a chemical reaction that strips it of its copper would harm the zinc also. Lol I'm really just guessing.. Report this Post to the Staff

I see evidence of blistering on the fields so the degradation process has already begun. If it's larger than 19.01 mm it could be a "Texas Cent." If it's the normal diameter, it's most likely environmental damage as noted above.
