I did visit the link on my previous post to get a better idea, and I thought it was very helpful. That being said, The date doesn't look flat to me, and would liberty be described as notched. could this be a doubled die 1972? I am sure its wishful thinking, but you are the knowledgeable ones. I am attempting to learn quickly as to not ask to many of the same questions over and over. Thank you all for your thoughts, time, and suggestions. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/30/2020 2:00 pm The flatness depending on how hard the machine was swinging the dies after the strike. Even the slightest move alters the freshly struck coin. Your coin is showing Machine Doubling. The date MD is showing on the upper part of the date digits, also on the bottoms of the devices. This is just an extremely loose mec on the machine that altered the devices in two directions. But here is a clue for you on what to look for on doubled dies on the 1972 cents: Note the shape of the '9' on each of the DDO listings. Note the distortion at 11:00? That is seen on the DDO's that year. Note the examples above of the normal and the MDD (Master Die doubling) how they are not as affected. So look for this one this year for a quick spot for doubled die obverse. Note also your coin. It shows a normal '9'. Report this Post to the Staff
