I am looking to add a burnished ASE to my small ASE collection. I noticed that the 2019-W is priced at $42.99. Most years are priced in the $50s to $70s. Mintage wise, 2019 is on the low side compared with other years. Why is 2019 particularly lower in price? https://www.apmex.com/category/2216...-eagle-coins |

Do you mean the bullion version?
Ive never paid more than $30 with most under $20. Although I haven't purchased any last few months,
$50 is too much for bullion.

I mean the "burnished version". The 2019-w is $42.99, 2020-w is $89.99, 2016-w is $59.99.

Ohhh, the version with the mint mark. I only have 1, it looks exactly like the bullion version except it has a mint mark. Sorry I have no idea why they cost so much. I personally wouldn't buy them when the Bullion is so much less expensive.

price is actually not bad compared to ebay listings. guessing APMEX just has a ton of them |

I was also thinking that APMEX just has a lot of the 2019-W burnished in stock. I check other online dealers, looks like prices are slightly different. Is it worth collecting a "burnished" coin when it looks very similar to a bullion version in finish? |

The 2019 W "Burnished" cost $47, if APMEX is selling it for $43, that shows you that they lose value. I usually get the ASE from a local coin shop for around $45 in proof, I would rather have a proof than the W uncirculated. |

ASE proof for $45 is a great price. I need to look at my local shop too.

The US Mint dumped a bunch of coins to dealers. In the past the mint would have melted the unsold inventory. So while the collector paid the Mint price, the dealers received a bunch at a discounted price.
This may be one of those coins. I doubt if they are selling at a loss.
