Jim1953 - Nice George V. I find plenty of George VI's here in Michigan but have yet to find a V. Amazing to find one of those in circulation.

Brucec: I have been trying to build a penny collection and have weighed a number of 1982 cents in the last few months. I have found copper 82s are much more common than zinc 82s. In fact, the only LMC I am still missing is the 82-D large date zinc. I have found plenty of S pennies, but this one is still a hole in my album. If you are looking to collect copper pennies, 82s are probably worth your time.

Yesterday I opened a roll of Cents and there was a shiny new 2009P dime in it. Now if that would happen 1000 more times.. now were talking.
lol... If I had a dime for every time I opened a roll of pennies.

I am going through two $25 boxes of copper brinks cents. I mentioned earlier in this thread that my dad got them from his bank. the latest coin found in 1982 with most of those in the 80-82 range being BU or AU coins. Also averaging about 1 wheat per 2 rolls. The only thing I can think of is that these set in a vault somewhere since 1982. Lots of fun searching these. Will post some pictures later.

John Paul, not sure why but been collecting the copper cents well all cents for a few years now I probably have around $200.00 in copper cents. Use t get boxes ad go pick out the copper but now just check the change.
Years ago probably in 1982 some coin company sent me all the 1982 cents advertising there coin collecting stuff I have kept that all these years so when I started the cent albums I had all these from that sample they sent me.

This one was a fun one... At first glance, it looked like a Greaser...then I looked at it again with my glasses on... As far as I can tell, it's a 197-sumpthing... I'm much more impressed at the quality of the photo than I am with the actual coin. (Sony cybershot pocket cam in the right hand...30x loupe held against the lens in the left...)

I think it's post-mint Thad. It's really odd though. The rims seem to still be full.

I'm constantly reading about the "shrinking and growing" of the dollar...but... I don't think I've heard anything about the cent before! Found this one the other day. It's now safely tucked away inside my "weird-stuff" box.

looks like someone shaved or ground down the rim on that 74, I'm guessing to hopefully use it a dime in vending machines or something.

correct me if I'm wrong, but the other way to see if a 82 is copper is to flick it. if it rings like the copper cents, then your good. if it doesn't ring at all.. its Zn..
