Quote: One of the reasons I don't like albums, I feel they just don't provide enough protection from air and humidity. You're 55S will probably stay red and bright for a long time, but eventually it will tone....copper is very reactive. Most of my Lincolns are in airtites, the best 47 cents you can spend to protect your coin. I'm slowly working on having ALL of my Lincolns in airtites! Are you serious? I just ordered a dansco album, and was hoping to have the 40's and up all red BU. I know folders aren't the best bet, but even the albums? Can you guys give me a little more info on this? Would the 83 and up be fine staying BU since they're zinc? MANN As for my finds today, I got $22 in customer wrapped, and a box. In the customer rolls, I found 2 wheats, but one was a REAL nice 58, and the other a 1919- my oldest find to date. On the box, I found 11 wheats, BUT ONE OF THEM WAS A STEEL!! (The pictures are kind of big) The 1958D http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/5202/58dw.jpgThe 1919 http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/5265/1919l.jpgAnd the Steel http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/8949/steelm.jpg

Cole - I'm quite serious, it may not happen in your lifetime, but it will happen. Keep your album inside one of those giant ziplock bags with a couple big dessicant packs, that will definately help. I also don't like albums because your forced and restricted in what you collect. I much prefer the 2x2 Cowens pages and airtites, I can group RPM's, doubled dies, toners, other multiples, errors, etc.with my year grouping. It's possible to have an entire 20 slot page filled with the same year coins!

Ok BadThad, what about the zincs, WIll they stay BU? I will keep it in one of those vacuum sealed bags or something, and It's not like I'm going to have BU coppers from pre 40 due to $$...It's my goal to put together a nice lincoln set, and now idk what to do....I also ordered a whole bunch of cardboard 2X2's and a few snaplocks for some of my finds, are the snap locks ok to store some nice things in like my MAD, and WAM? I guess I should just go post in the other forum, cause this is getting off topic. -thanks

Quote: One of the reasons I don't like albums, I feel they just don't provide enough protection from air and humidity. Quote: I don't keep my RD coins in my Dansco. I would rather have nice XF's and AU's in their. Most of my wheat cents are brown, some of them are red-brown, none are full red. My memorial cents were pulled from circulation and I have a difficult time calling anything (even a nice red Memorial cent) "MS" when I pulled it from change! So in reality, nothing grades over AU and therefore I have no problem keeping them in the Dansco. It is important to know that how and where you keep any album will affect success, especially one that is not air tight. Two words: climate control. While I feel that Dansco albums are great for the type of sets I have, I would not recommend them if I were building a "high-end" set. If I were to build a nice red Lincoln set, I would most likely use BadThad's storage method!

Cole = Zincs are the worst offenders for corrosion! Don't use those Whitman snaplocks, they are not airtite, use the Airtite brand, they are the cheapest and best....I order mine from valleycoin.com in bulk for 47 cents each.

Did you get a lot of old cents in that box with it? I've always thought that if you're getting a ton of teens, or something like that, you're more likely to get a IHC. Also, when you get numerous wheats, all from the same few years, is that from someone cashing in their hoard, or just a coincidence? From my experience, things come in batches, not very spread out.....

From my experience, things come in batches, not very spread out..... I actually have a ryedale and it sorts my coppers from my zincs I sift through and pic out the wheats and throw the coppers into my stash. Then Since I have to roll all my zinclons to take back to the bank I just check them for varietys. Well the indian was in with the Zinclons b/c the way the machine sorts it misses the indians and some of the lower year wheats But it doesn't matter b/c I check anyway You will find them just keep searching.. My friend on another Forum says If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.HCBTTI also just found a 1995 Doubled Die also. I will post pics. It needs Some acetone under the bust I think
