BadThad - how would one identify such a coin in a BU bank box? I have a couple of 2014 boxes I have received from my bank as well. Wouldn't opening the rolls and touching the coins automatically lower the grade?

The 1967 Canadian cent is a Canadian Centennial. And it's a rock dove :).

Another disappointing box! 1 1940-p wheat, 10 cnd. I only found one 2009 and It was cull so I threw it back. The only cool thing in this box was a British One Penny coin (2000s). I sure hope my luck changes because this is getting discouraging.

You are finding a number of 2009s smeyers; very high relative to my location. Only a matter of time before you find the missing one!

tons of new pennies, but I'm finding about half as many wheats as everyone here it seems like. I'm averaging 4-6 and a lot of people seem to be on the 8-10 range. Also, only a 1929 for the pre-1940 range after 7 boxes (almost 1 in 20,000 pennies). I have found 4 semi-key s mint wheats from 1940-1958 though, so I can't complain too much.

It's luck of the draw - currently going through $25 of CWRs. about 2/3 done and only 3 LWCs. I can see three sets of different wrappers and each set has a different mix. I've almost pulled out 36 Zincolns, some AU/BU specimens from the 80s and 90s. You never know what you are going to get. And so far, 22 error/variety specimens of which I IDed two; 1998P-1DER-032T and 1962P-1DO-026. So while the LWC count and dates are a bit disappointing, I'm making things up with a nice mix of early LMCs and fine Zincolns. Some good with the bad.

Well Rackster, theres always another box. Hopefully it isn't as bad as the last one.

Hello! Today I went through another box of pennies, and came out with just 6 LWCs and like 11 canadian pennies.
LWC dates:
1935 (on the end of a roll)
1944
1944 D
1956
1957 D
1958 D

Nice to find that '35 though!

Canadian Penny dates:
1964 2X (One XF, the other MS )
1970
1978
1981
1986
1989
1992
1998
2003
2004

Happy hunting and good luck!

Hi Child - no real complaints although as I mentioned, the LWC count is down....but I've a little more to go so maybe it'll pick up a bit.

Honestly, just the focus changes a bit with each box given what it's producing. I don't mind boxes (CWRs) that might be skewed one way or the other. Different opportunity to make discoveries. That's OK with me. Good times!!

PS - I hope the '35 wasn't damaged.

Nice finds Rackster! Every box is like a box of chocolates! <GRIN>

I'm working on a box right now. Got 12 rolls left to go through. Found a gorgeous 2006 BU Bahamian Cent, which was cool. First Bahamian coin I've found in circulation in the States, though I have quite a few older Bahamian coins that I acquired years ago during my honeymoon in Nassau. (Great place!)

This box is also proving to be productive in other areas. I've found 7 Wheaties thus far with the oldest being a 1918. One of them is also a 1944-S. I'm also finding early LMR's in BU again: 1963-D, 1969-D, 1970-D and 1972-D so far.

I'm also finding more 2014-D and 2015-D's in BU. I throw back any that have bad bag marks or PMD and keeping those that have good eye appeal and/or are of gem quality.

O.K. I finished my latest box. Here's the final tally....(drum roll please....)

Wheat Cents: 1918, 1932-D, 1944-S, 1950-D, 1952, 1952-S in XF/RB, 1955-D (x2), and a 1958-D with PMD.

AU/BU LMR's: 1963-D, 1969-D, 1970-D, 1972-D, 1973-D

Foreign: One 1983 Canadian Cent with possible mint error on the rim. One 2006 BU Bahamas Cent.

BU Zincolns: Found about two dozen more 2015-D BU Zincolns in MS64-MS66.

Other: 1988-D Roosevelt dime and 2013-P Roosevelt dime. (Easy money...chuckle....)
